A hunk of meat
That once held dreams
An open mind
Splashed against the back wall
The sanctity of life
Holding no intrinsic value
Enormous pits filled
With those like you or I
The glassy illusion shatters
Making more clear the specters beyond the veil
They promise eternal bliss
When all you know becomes rot
So many fade to obscurity
Having lived a vapid existence
Many are etched in marble for faint memory
While superficial ink holds eternal
Many a birth was meaningful
We desire our deaths be the same
Though we will never witness
The impact of our fatuous lives
