Civility

This visage of civility

Masks to assume the mantle

Of just gods

Faint is the ghost of brutality

Injured deeply

Unfair is scarcity

Unfair is the abundance

Limitless pain

Every morsel of food

Smothered with pain

Crops watered in the blood

Of the unfortunate

Living the legacy

Left by savagery

Glory stained

Blood tears and tragedy

Raze another home

Reave  for more plunder

Harvest more souls to feed

The cruel construct of civilization

More blood spilt for the oldest gods

More skulls to adorn their throne

Beasts snarl under porcelain facades

Calling to their master

Render the payment for victory

Bloody hands greedily grasp

Fate’s dispassionate die

Cast so easily by any hand
